Oktoberfest, Munich Germany!

On Thursday, October 1st I made my way down to London to spend the night at Sydney's in South Kensington (the upper-east side equivalent of London).  Her apartment is cute, love the area!  I changed and had some wine - laughed at Sydney's drunkenness.  We went to a bar called On-and-On for Jackie's 21st birthday.  I tried to meet up with Liz at a bar nearby, but wound up walking in a circle for 30 minutes... sorry, Liz!  I finally found Sydney again and we went back to her apartment (so I could toss and turn for 15 minutes before "waking up")  Byron and I took a sketchy, discounted cab to Hearthrow aiport.  So happy we were on the same flight!!!  Security was awful.. and there were some questionable people before us on line who didn't even have passports.  Anyway,  Byron and I arrived in Munich around 8am and passed out on the airport seats for an hour.  Finally the rest of the Munich crew arrived and we took a van to the hotel.  The hotel was really cute and gave us an amazing free breakfast.

Around 12pm we headed over to Oktoberfest!  By chance, we got a table for a couple minutes inside one of the largest tents.  The waitress brought us over our first liters of beer .. 10 euro!  Needless to say, this was an expensive weekend.  We went to different tents, ate a lot of cheese bread, pretzels, french fries (disgusting).  We stayed at Oktoberfest until 6pm then took a cab home.. ate McDonalds (again, disgusting) at the NICEST McDonalds (in the world- I'm convinced).

Go to sleep for a few hours.. wake.. repeat:

We woke up after 5am to get ready for oktoberfest, had a great FREE breakfast (the only real meal of the whole trip), and headed over to oktoberfest by 8am.  There was already a line outside the tent we chose by 8am.  We waited until 9am when they opened the tent doors.  Out of luck, we got a table!  Right across from these crazy italian guys (actually, the entire section was all italians and us.. the rando Americans).  We stayed and chanted, and downed several liters of beer before leaving the tent.  Sydney, Jackie, Jackie, Jacel and I got crepes and t-shirts.  We found Karen and headed to another tent were we found a table outside.  We shared the table with the nicest Belgian men.  They knew how to party!  Taught us fun drinking games/chants and shared beer with us.  I made it until about 930- had to call it quits after that .. 12 hours of drinking will do you in.  Went back to the hotel- naturally, finished the night with burgerless bigmac from McDonalds with Byron.  When I got back from Mcdonald's Sydney was passed out on the bed with her mouth open creating a spectacle of herself- funniest part of my trip.  There's not much else to say!   It was an amazing trip, but I was also really happy to get back to Nottingham and hang out with my friends here.

Cheers!
